Who maintains this site

Underpinning.ie is run by Bartlomiej Standa, a sole trader trading as Elevate Ireland. He writes and checks the pages. Contact: hello@underpinning.ie.

Underpinning.ie is an introduction service, not an engineering firm. It does not inspect buildings or give structural advice. It isn't connected to any council, insurer, engineering body or government department.

Sources we use

• Government and public bodies: the Building Regulations guidance (TGD A), the Health and Safety Authority, councils' building control guides, the Comptroller and Auditor General, gov.ie, Geological Survey Ireland, the CSO.
• BRE's published description of its crack damage categories (BRE Digest 251).
• Irish insurers' published policy booklets and product summaries.
• Irish newspapers quoting named engineers and surveyors, with the article date.
• Irish legislation on irishstatutebook.ie.

How we check a fact

• We read it at its source and record the date we read it.
• Prices: Irish euro figures published at their source only, with their date and VAT status. We don't estimate, convert UK prices or fill gaps.
• Where a company makes a claim about its own product, we say it's the company's claim.
• Where a source is old, we show its date. Where we couldn't read a source, we say so.

How often

Facts are re-checked at least once a month. The current check was done on 29 October 2026.

What we never publish

Reviews, ratings, customer counts, badges, or promises about results or response times. Prices we haven't confirmed. Any statement that a particular house is safe, or needs underpinning.
